PBEA District-Wide Fundraising Effort
On October 17, 2008, Plum Borough School District students participated in a practical lesson on empathy and selflessness, as the Plum Borough Education Association led a district-wide fundraising initiative for needy families in the borough. Primary recipient of the efforts was the Sunny Carney Carcinoid Fund, but two other needy families also received funds.
A total of over $2,100 was raised in five different buildings for the Sunny Carney Carcinoid Fund. All district staff was invited to participate in a dress down day. Elementary school organized a variety of student activities like “Crazy Hat Day” at Center Elementary, while O Block Junior High School sold cupcakes and Plum Senior High School baked and sold sun cookies and conducted a prize raffle during lunches.
